Dr. David Gerber is a professor in the Department of Internal Medicine (Hematology-Oncology) and the Peter J. O’Donnell Jr. School of Public Health at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Within the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center at UT Southwestern, Dr. Gerber previously served as Associate Director of Clinical Research and as Co-Leader of the Experimental Therapeutics Program. He currently serves as Co-Director of the Office of Education and Training. He is an active thoracic medical oncology clinical investigator with more than 220 publications and continuous federal and foundation research funding for more than 13 years.
Since 2017, Dr. Gerber has led the CPRIT-supported lung cancer screening program at Parkland Health, the integrated safety-net provider for Dallas County. Through this program, more than 2,000 eligible individuals (of whom more than two-thirds are under-represented minorities) are referred for low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screens annually. To date, studies of this experience have resulted in more than a dozen publications in medical journals.
