Dr. Lance Black presently holds the position of Chief Clinical Strategy Officer at Prana Thoracic. He is a CPRIT grantee with a dedicated mission of enhancing early intervention in lung cancer.
For over a decade, Dr. Black has been deeply immersed in the MedTech and Digital Health sectors, serving in various roles. His contributions extend to pivotal roles at TMC Innovation, where he managed the TMCi Biodesign and Accelerator programs. Notably, he played a key part in establishing the Accelerator for Cancer Therapeutics (ACT) program, also a recipient of CPRIT funding. Beyond this, he co-founded XN Health, a MedTech company focused on phrenic nerve stimulation, all while serving as the Senior Medical Director at 3ive Labs, developers of the world’s first Renal Assist Device (RAD). Throughout his journey, Dr. Black has been impassioned by the dynamic landscape of healthcare startups.
Before his foray into the startup world, Dr. Black served as a Family and Flight Medicine physician in the United States Air Force. He proudly completed two deployments in support of the war in Afghanistan. Notably, he assumed the role of Chief of the Medical Staff at Manas Air Base in Kyrgyzstan, a critical transit point for service members entering and exiting theater. He also served as a medical lead at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan, where he served an F-22 squadron.
